We arrived in Mammoth Cave NP after and exhausting 3 weeks and it was so hot. We rented one of the cabins that was spacious and close to the visitor’s center, but it didn’t have air conditioning. Did I mention is was so hot??
The first thing we did was to go to the visitor’s center and decide on which tours we wanted to book. Because we were going to be there for 3 days, we decided to do the Domes & Dripstones tour on our first day and then do the Frozen Niagara tour the next day. Both tours are given daily and enter the cave from different access points. We really enjoyed each of the tours because they were very different!
We took the free ferry across the river because we had never seen anything like it. We all got such a kick out of this (we must be easily entertained) and the kids begged to do it over and over again. We didn’t because it would be too embarrassing, but you should do it at least once! Well, you have to do it twice to get back, but do it at least twice!
The rest of our time was spent relaxing and napping. We deserved it after our time on the road!
We headed home to North Carolina after Mammoth Cave National Park and immediately started planning our next big adventure!!
